+ 2012 CCIP VOLUNTEER IN MISSION TRIP -- MORE INFORMATION
Hi Gang
It is a joy to have so many of you who feel you are to go to Zimbabwe and to those of you who are interested but not yet sure, please let me give you some more information to help you. The trip is a Volunteer in Missions trip organized by our Kansas West Annual Conference. The group leader is Pastor Kennedy Mukwindidza who is from Zimbabwe and currently is serving as the pastor of the Quinter UMC in western Kansas. Kennedy is a great leader and since he is from Zimbabwe he knows the “lay of the land” and does a great job taking care of us. I have also asked Nancy Tanton, who is my Mission Prayer and teaching partner to help organize the serve and ministry team with Kennedy and me.
The trip will be divided into two teams; a serve team and a ministry team. The serve team will work at the St. Luke’s Chishakwe United Methodist church, so roll up your sleeves and be ready to help the members of the congregation help build their church.
The ministry team will be teaching pastors and lay people and spending time in intercessory prayer with people. During the two weeks I will be preaching two different crusades and the ministry team will be ministering at the Crusade and as needed.
Both teams will stay in host homes in Mutare, which is a large city in the area where we will be working and ministering. Each day both teams will meet together in the morning for worship, prayer and sharing. Then we will dismiss to our location to serve, come back together for lunch, return to serve and then return together in the evening to our host homes.
The cost of the trip is $3600. This covers air travel, ground travel while in Zimbabwe, food, two nights motel in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, accident insurance, administration and some project money. This does not include visa fees ($25) snacks, and visits to tourist attractions. If enough of us are a go, maybe we could plan a trip to Victoria Falls after the camp. Victoria Falls is one of the 8 wonders of the world. Let me know if this is of interest to you.
If you desire to go on the trip, please send your refundable deposit of $100 to Kansas West Conference, United Methodist Church 9440 E. Boston, Suite 110 Wichita, Ks 67207-3600. Please specify that the money is for the 2012 VIM Zimbabwe Mission trip. I need to ask you to please send an email to Pastor Kennedy (mwaona@hotmail.com) and to me (dwallace@asburychurch.org) to let us know you have paid your deposit.
The remaining balance of $3500 is needed by the end of March 2012. I would like to help us raise the money we need to go so I will be scheduling an information meeting about the trip and finances will be part of our discussion.
Your Brother in Jesus, Dennis
